July 2011: Red Devils

The reborn Belgian military aerobatics' team the "Red Devils" and Dimitri at their common air base Beauvechain.From left to right: Lt Avi Olivier 'Mel' Gilson, Lt Vl Stefaan 'Stef' Braem, "Griffon", Cdt Avi Alain 'Papy' Collard, Capt Avi Albert 'Al' Baltus. Last year the Wing Heli moved with its A109 helicopters to Beauvechain Air Base and took over the traditions of the 1 Wing. The base is shared with the SF-260's of the 5th and 9th training squadrons. Dimitri now continues his function as rotary wing aviation safety officer and shares the office with his fixed wing aviation safety counterpart 'Papy' Collard, leader of the "New" Red Devils. March 2009: Painting for the 2009 Canadian Artflight competition

Dimitri painted the "Maple leaf, poppies and stars" in order to participate as a CAAA member in the 2009 Artflight contest organized by the Canada Aviation Museum. The theme was "Miles, Milestones and Moments" celebrating the Canadian Centennial of Flight. Over 60 works of art were submitted and only 27 were selected. "Maple leaf, poppies and stars" was one of the selected works and is now on display at the Canada Aviation Museum in Ottawa.
