Today with the restructuring of the Belgian armed forces and the integration of all flying assets into the Belgian Defence Air Component (Former Air Force) the A-109 BA fleet has been reduced to 32. The army battalions have been renamed multirole squadrons in the Wing Heli based at Bierset, Liège. During all these years of operations four more versions of the A109BA were developed : HRecce (Equipped with two gunner operated machine guns), HMed (Medical evacuation), HTpt (Liaison and transport version) and the HLR ( Equipped with two 2.75 inch rocket launchers).
This was Dimitri’s first large pencil drawing. He started drawing it in 1994 and halfway the process stowed it away because of a lack of time. In 2001 while cleaning up he found it again and decided to put it on the drawing board and leave it there until it was finished. He framed it and hung it in his office at the base. A lot of collegues asked for a reproduction print and so Griffon Art was born.
